Peng Yihsuan “Whiteboard Marking 9” is shortlisted for The 2017 Sovereign Asian Art Prize.From April 19 – 21, 2017 all shortlisted artworks will go on show in The James Christie Room at Christie’s in Hong Kong. From April 25 – May 4, 2017 they will then exhibit at The Rotunda, Exchange Square. In addition, the Grand Prize and Public Vote Prize winners will be announced at The Sovereign Asian Art Prize Gala Dinner and Auction on May 5, 2017 at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. Here shortlisted artworks will be auctioned and proceeds split evenly between the artists and SAF’s charitable projects.
The artist abandoned the idea of the painting as a permanent existence with his work “Whiteboard Marking 9” and replaced descriptions with marks. He used whiteboard and erasable marker as mediums to depict the sceneries of plants and mountains in Mazu Village. The temporary settings made new changes to its creative thinking and marked a new recognition to his hometown.

Peng Yihsuan was born in 1990 in Taoyuan. Graduated from BA in Fine Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts in 2011 and currently studying at the Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts, Tainan National University of the Arts,Peng Yihsuan currently lives and works in Tainan.
